Sven Krippendorf

Physics of learning. Machine learning for physics.

We are a research team in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) at the University of Cambridge, led by Dr Sven Krippendorf.

We study learning systems with the tools of mathematical and theoretical physics, and we develop machine-learning and agentic systems to discover structure in fundamental physics. Our work combines mathematical analysis, physical reasoning and computational experiments.

Sven is Assistant Teaching Professor for AI and Physics and Head of Mathematical AI at the Cambridge–Infosys AI Centre. We also deliver online courses, in-person teaching and workshops with industry, focused on current developments in machine learning. Some of this activity is connected with the Centre, while other teaching and workshops are delivered independently.
